Link Envy: “True Detective” Conversations

So I’ve become relatively obsessed with HBO’s “True Detective”. I got on the bandwagon a little bit late, but after spending the past week catching up on the season, I won’t be hopping off of it anytime soon.

The term “link envy” implies that I wish I had created the site to which I’m linking, and while I guess that’s kind of true for this one, I’m mostly just glad someone else did. Because it’s hilarious.

Even if there are only a few entries, every one is gold. Especially this one.

It may seem odd that I am promoting a Tumblr about a serial killer show on a blog about parenting, but there’s a reason for it. And that reason is this:

HBO, True Detective, Frozen, TV, movies, Disney, Tumblr, McConaughey, Woody harrelson, Carcosa, Lovecraft, parenting, funny, blogs, kids

The two things my son and I are each currently obsessed with together at last in one hilarious image! It probably means almost nothing to anyone who hasn’t seen “True Detective” and isn’t aware of Matthew McConaughey’s character’s propensity for ultra-depressing, pitch-black responses to Woody Harrelson’s attempts at conversation, but if you have seen the show? The image – and all the images on the site – is awesome.

And if you haven’t seen it, you can at least agree that “Let It Go” is Frozen‘s best song, right? Even if the movie pisses you off a little?

My son’s insistence on watching and listening to his new favorite movie over and over has doomed me to days of songs about building snowmen and going gay being stuck in my head. And I’m sick of it! So even though he won’t be watching my creepy-ass show anytime soon, I can at least return the favor by teaching him some of its catchphrases!

HBO, True Detective, Frozen, TV, movies, Disney, Tumblr, McConaughey, Woody harrelson, Carcosa, Lovecraft, parenting, funny, blogs, kids

It’s okay, he has no idea what it means. I barely have any idea what it means. But that doesn’t matter, it still scares me when he says it.

The Tumblr is hilarious. Check it out. Hopefully some traffic will convince the creator to keep it going!
