Not So Fast, Business Baby!
So you may have seen the “Business Baby” meme that’s going around…
My son has something to say about it, and this time it’s personal not just gibberish.
So you may have seen the “Business Baby” meme that’s going around…
My son has something to say about it, and this time it’s personal not just gibberish.
I only have one kid – on purpose! – so why do I feel like I have several?
Oh, right: MY KID HAS A LOVEY.
It’s a little mini-blanket with a lion head on the top of it, and my son snuggles with it all day long. At first, it was cute: “Oh, look at how much he loves his lovey lion! It’s his best friend! ADORABLE!” Soon, it got too serious to be cute. Now my son can barely function without the thing.
And I hate it.
It’s not always easy keeping a three-year-old occupied. You need to mix things up a bit, and unfortunately that goes beyond sitting in a different booth at the sports bar every Sunday. When you’re away from home, finding a way to burn your kid’s energy so he’ll go to sleep early enough so you can enjoy your night keep your toddler entertained can be even harder. Especially when you’re traveling.
One of our go-tos is the local children’s museum. Most of the ones we’ve taken my son to are pretty hands on – almost more indoor playrooms than museums, which is fine, since I don’t think he’d really enjoy an exhibition on the Impressionists – but we’ve visited so many he’s almost as bored of them as we are.
Zoos are fun, but it’s winter and it’s cold, so when we were in Baltimore the weekend after Christmas, we decided to try the next best thing: the National Aquarium!
I’ll be traveling (drinking) and shopping (drinking) and hanging out with family (drinking) for the next few days, so not sure I’ll be able to post a lot of content.
To help cover the gap, I thought I’d share the family Christmas card. Don’t worry, it’s not an obnoxiously boastful video promoting my new business. It IS a picture of my son.
Yeah, I know: WHO CARES?
Two years ago, I took a video of my son pretending to talk on a cell phone. I posted the video on YouTube and it went viral. Not “Charlie Bit My Finger” viral, but it got almost a million views in the first week and was even aired on “The Today Show”.
It was the early days of my blog, and it was the first big burst of attention I received. It was very exciting, and a little weird. Mom and Buried was worried about exploiting Detective Munch and I was worried we weren’t exploiting him enough.
Turns out I was right, as the furor quickly died down and Dad and Buried faded back into obscurity along with the video…
UNTIL NOW!
