I love my kids, I just hate parenting
There are a lot of things to be concerned about in 2017, but regardless of where you stand on Trump, Syria, climate change, fake news, or the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reboot, there’s one thing we should tackle first:
Meninists.
Oh, you’re not familiar with the term? I apologize in advance for indoctrinating you into a world in which “meninism” is an actual thing.
I wanted a daughter.
Last year, before my second son was born, I was hoping to have a girl. (We already had a boy, and I wanted someone to prefer me for a change!) I don’t care anymore, of course. I love both my boys and wouldn’t trade them for anything. Well, maybe for a little peace and quiet, but that’s not gonna happen.
Besides, according to just about every guy I know who has a daughter, I’m lucky. Having girls is scary, they say, especially when they get older — especially for dads.
I hope to help make it a little easier.
A year ago tomorrow, The Hammer was born.
Throughout the past year – well, more like the last six-to-nine months (those first three are pretty uneventful), he’s been a delightful addition to the Buried household, with an infectious smile, infectious laugh, infectious laundry, infectious stomach bugs, infectious insomnia, infectious debt…
No, I don’t regret having a second child. Why do you ask?
Winter break has arrived. Godspeed, fellow parents!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve come to dread these weeks my kids have off from school. Summer, obviously, is the worst, mostly because it’s the longest. But none of them are particularly fun, as we’re all about to spend the next few weeks finding out!
Why isn’t school year-round again? Thank God for teachers.
When you have kids, you sacrifice a lot. Is all that sacrifice worth it? Is parenting worth it?
I’m not sure I can answer that.
Both because there is no definitive, universal answer, and because I don’t know yet.
