Blogger Idol 2012 – Week 7: Je Ne Regrette Rien!

We finally (re-)elected a president, but the voting’s not over yet. I still need your help!

Blogger Idol carries on, and as one of the final 6, I need your votes more than ever.

This time around we had to write about a chance we didn’t take, a decision we made over the course of our lifetime that potentially altered its trajectory. I almost wrote about the blunder that was NOT switching to contact lenses earlier – I waited until after college; I could totally be married to Kate Beckinsale right now, dammit!

But since I’m already married to her non-celebrity equivalent, I chose something else.

Election Play

They supposedly have all these rules and restrictions about who can and can’t vote. But this is America: We don’t make rules. We break them.

And so my son totally got his vote on this morning, and I have the picture to prove it.

Trick or Beat!

Every morning, when we ask my son what he wants to wear today, he says “Gabba!”

Every day. No matter that we’re deep into fall and his “Yo Gabba Gabba” shirt has short sleeves. He wants to wear it every day. I kind of suspect that he thinks “Gabba” means “clothes.”

“What do you want to wear today?”
“Clothes!”
“You got it, kid!”

But this Halloween, we took him at his word and went one further with his request. He wore a full-fledged DJ Lance Rock costume.

Southern Intolerance

First things first: I’m not suggesting I want a divorce.

But if I were to get divorced from my beautiful, understanding, intelligent, pretty-much-perfect wife and want to marry someone new, I hope I’d be able to marry whomever I chose.

Depending on where I live, that might not be the case.

Blogger Idol 2012: Week 5 – Sh*t Just Got Real

Things got serious this week.

The assignment was to present our take on a hot news topic. My choice, like most of the others, doesn’t easily lend itself to comedy. So I got real on your asses and laid out my opinion on the same-sex issue that has been dividing the country for years.

It’s become more personal to me since I had my son and will be even more relevant now that we’re moving to North Carolina, a state where the fight for equality has some real obstacles.

Like Amendment One.
