As you know, I am the proud owner of two of the cutest kids on planet earth, and I love taking their picture. That’s partially because I like sharing those pictures on Instagram so I can make fun of them, and partially because, ya know, memories! And stuff.

All this is to say that my phone is almost always chock full of photos, which makes it hard to take new ones. And makes the prospect of losing my phone downright terrifying.

Fear and Loathing and the Momo Challenge

My instinct is to joke about it. To make fun of the whole thing, to poke fun at the people who fall for it, to bemoan the dumb victims and their bad parents.

But he whole thing is so twisted it makes my stomach churn. These are little kids.

No matter how desperately I wish it were funny, the Momo Challenge isn’t a joke. Real or not, the prospect is terrifying.

Giveaway! Monopoly Junior: Electronic Banking Edition

My 7-year-old always wants to play something with me. It’s usually Zelda, which I’m no good at, sometimes it’s hide and seek, which he’s no good at, and sometimes it’s “surprise Daddy by jumping on his crotch.”

Needless to say, we need new games. And we’ve finally found some.

Switch Played

I didn’t exactly grow up bonding over video games with my dad.

For one thing, video games didn’t exist when my dad was a kid – they only barely existed when I was a kid! – and by the time my brothers and I were playing Coleco, he couldn’t have cared less. I seem to recall some initial fascination with the first Nintendo when it came out, but my father had neither the time nor the inclination to sit down and play Super Mario Bros or Metroid with us. So video games had never stuck out to me as an opportunity for quality parenting time.

Parenting Done Right

Recently, I wrote about some of the positive things my son has inherited from me, mostly by dint of genetics and osmosis. Which is to say accidentally. Give or take The Beatles.

I don’t like to brag, which is why I’m going to do it again today! Only this time there’s nothing accidental about the things I’m going to discuss. Because these aren’t traits my son was handed down, or music I’ve indoctrinated him into. These are things I’ve done right as a parent, on purpose!
