I Won’t Apologize For Flying With Kids

I Won’t Apologize For Flying With Kids

Last year, there was a popular story about a couple who, before boarding a flight with their infant twins, created and distributed goody bags to the other passengers.

Knowing the odds were high that their babies would make a ruckus, these parents got proactive and put together bags full of candy, ear-plugs, and even a little note in which they apologized for their kids’ potentially-forthcoming commotion. It was a clever strategy, and it inspired copycats, like a blogger friend of mine whose courteous, empathetic wife recently employed a similar gambit.

It just so happens that my wife and I are hopping on a plane later today, along with our excitable toddler. Inspired by the ingenuity and foresight of the people mentioned above, I’ve created a goody bag of my own for our cabin-mates, to thank them for not getting too mad at me for flying with kids.

Let me know what you think!

You may have noticed that the blog has been a tad quiet of late, and that’s because the family has been doing a little traveling.

We drove up north. We drove because we wanted to stay flexible, schedule-wise, and because airlines inexplicably charge full-price once your kid turns two-years-old so he can have a seat. But I’d gladly let him sit on my lap for two hours. Deal with occasionally getting kicked, fatso next to me!

The one making the biggest – ahem – splash? The iPotty.

Speaking of Toys…

Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time whining about all the toys my son got for Christmas. Mostly I’m just jealous. But no worries, ’cause now it’s my turn! Today I head to Las Vegas (my first time!) to visit the Consumer Electronics Show. My visit has been sponsored by Lenovo, so expect someRead more about Speaking of Toys…[…]

Blogger Idol 2012 – Week 7: Je Ne Regrette Rien!

We finally (re-)elected a president, but the voting’s not over yet. I still need your help!

Blogger Idol carries on, and as one of the final 6, I need your votes more than ever.

This time around we had to write about a chance we didn’t take, a decision we made over the course of our lifetime that potentially altered its trajectory. I almost wrote about the blunder that was NOT switching to contact lenses earlier – I waited until after college; I could totally be married to Kate Beckinsale right now, dammit!

But since I’m already married to her non-celebrity equivalent, I chose something else.
